Removable Dump Trailer Side Panels
Drawing-based steel sideboards for hinged, removable trailer body arrangements. Define the panel, reinforcement, hinge locations and closing interfaces as one coordinated component package.

Order the sideboard.
Define its mating parts.
THYH supplies custom metal components for your assembly operation. A removable sideboard package can include the panel skin, formed edge sections, welded reinforcement and drawing-defined hinge mounting features. State whether mating brackets, pins, retainers and closing hardware are required in the same quotation.
The body assembly drawing remains essential: a sideboard cannot be specified only by its outside length and height. Its lower connection, end gaps and closing position must match the floor edge and adjacent posts.
- Left and right panels identified separately
- Single or segmented panels to the agreed layout
- Loose fabricated parts or welded panel subassemblies
- Connection parts included only where listed in the agreed bill of materials

Panel and assembly illustrations show a generic arrangement. Final geometry and component scope follow the approved project drawings.
Specify the panel and the interfaces.
Send the current part drawings together with an assembly layout. Use the following checklist to identify the information needed for a project review; the entries are quotation inputs, not standard product specifications.
| Feature | Information to provide | Why it matters to supply |
|---|---|---|
| Panel envelope | Length, height, orientation, segment arrangement and finished closing position | Defines the fabricated panel and the surrounding clearances |
| Material and thickness | Material specification, thickness for each element and documentation requirements | Separates the skin, reinforcement and mounting components in the quotation |
| Formed edges | Flange dimensions, bend details, end conditions and reference faces | Clarifies the interfaces with the floor edge, posts and adjoining panels |
| Hinge arrangement | Axis position, hinge spacing, barrel geometry, pin details and retention method | Defines the mating features and removal arrangement |
| Closing hardware | Latch or catch geometry, mounting locations and included hardware list | Establishes which closing components THYH is asked to supply |
| Weld and finish | Joint details, weld acceptance criteria, coating specification and protected surfaces | Sets the fabrication, inspection and finishing scope |
| Quantity and packing | Panels per set, left/right split, order quantity and delivery destination | Allows matched-set identification and packaging to be reviewed |

Review the opening and removal sequence.
A hinged panel and a lift-off panel are not automatically the same design. Show how the board opens, how its weight is supported during handling, and how the pin or hinge connection is released. Identify any interference with posts, adjoining panels or closing hardware.
For mating pin and barrel features, specify the required fits and how those features are to be checked. Include finish allowances and surfaces that must remain protected from coating. Do not derive a pin size or clearance from an illustration.
Agree the delivered condition before production.
Fabricated panel
Cutting, forming and welding are selected around the agreed geometry. Identify which reinforcement and mounting features are welded to the panel and which remain loose for your assembly.
Inspection scope
Request checks for panel envelope, diagonals, mounting locations, hinge alignment and specified welds. Matched-part fit checks and sample approval are included only when agreed in the order.
Finish and packaging
Surface treatments are arranged through external suppliers where agreed. Define finish protection, left/right identification, panel separation and the packing of loose connection parts.

Questions before ordering removable sideboards
Can you supply both fixed and removable side panels?
Both fixed welded sidewall components and removable hinged sideboard components can be reviewed against your drawings. Identify which arrangement is required and include the mating body geometry.
Are pins, hinges and latches included?
Only components listed in the agreed supply scope are included. Send the complete hardware list and drawings so the quotation can separate fabricated features, loose connection parts and any items supplied by your team.
Can these replace a panel on an existing trailer?
Replacement suitability requires the actual dimensions, interfaces and application requirements. No vehicle make, model or universal replacement fit is established by this page.
What should I send for a quotation?
Send panel and assembly drawings, revision, material, thickness, quantity, finish, inspection requirements and delivery destination. Identify left/right panels and the required supply condition.
Send your removable sideboard package.
Email PDF drawings and available CAD files with the bill of materials. Tell us which panels and mating parts you need.
